Our popular Walking with Alpacas is in it's 10th year !

The alpacas are having a snooze and hanging up their halters until spring.

Hope to see you then!

Our popular Walking with Alpacas is in it's 10th year !

What Happens

Come and meet our lovely alpacas, and we

guarantee that you will fall in love with them !

What Happens

Firstly you are introduced to the alpacas and learn about how to behave around them, as they can be quite shy at first. When everyone is happy (human & alpaca), we round up the boys who are trained for walks and you choose and catch your alpaca – always an interesting moment! Once the head collars are on we set off for our walk through the lovely meadows and woods of Burnt Fen.

Alpaca Amble

Alpaca walking is more of an amble than a forced march as they like to browse for snacks along the way and sometimes have a good scratch in the hedges. Sturdy shoes and long trousers are best as some of the more adventurous alpacas do like to venture off the path in search of interesting morsels!

Tea and Carrots

At the end of the walk the alpacas and any cria (alpaca babies) will be delighted to join you for refreshments; tea & biscuits for us, carrots for them! Alpaca fibre is incredibly soft and strong. I am a spinner, weaver and felter, specialising in alpaca (no surprises there) and you are welcome to look around my studio to see how I work with our fleeces using traditional techniques.

Please email or call to make a booking. We meet at 10.30am, please allow 2 - 2 1/2 hours for your visit, depending on alpaca snack stops along the way!  We are happy to do walks during the week or at the weekend, but weekends do get booked up, so please get in touch if you have a particular date in mind. Walks do need to be pre-booked as we are a working farm.

Our walks are £15 per person with a minimum of 4 and maximum of 10 alpacas per group. We are happy to combine groups but this will only be done with prior agreement with all parties.

Please note we only walk our alpacas once a day as we want to make it as fun for them as it is for you, but this does mean that weekends and the holiday season can get booked up very quickly.

The Great British Weather

Walking a soggy alpaca is a bit like walking a wet sponge, so if the weather is really bad it might be kind to all to re-arrange! Alpacas tend to sulk in the rain - much as I do.... For this reason and other dull husbandry needs, our walking season runs from April to September.

Our gift voucher comes with one of our lovely alpaca cards and invites the recipient & up to 5 friends to walk our alpacas. Please visit our store to buy a voucher.
